I had the privilege of capturing Michael proposing to the love of his life, Kim, a few short weeks ago. HIs sister, Alex, contacted me about his plans for a proposal so sweet and romantic it seemed straight out of a Nicholas Sparks novel. Michael and Kim meet as juniors in high school through their friend Katie. They dated through high school and into their first year of college. Life had swept them into two different directions; Michael was in New York for school and Kim was a thousand miles away at Creighton University in Omaha. They stayed connected throughout college and their love for each other finally brought them both back to Kansas City after college.
On the day of the proposal Michael had Katie (the original match maker) chauffer Kim around the city. His plan was for her to take Kim around the city to places of importance in their relationship. Minutes before they would arrive at each location Michael’s sister and mom would drop off a single tulip and a handwritten note inside a card (prints by local artist Mike Savage). The cards depicted the locations she would be arriving at…it really couldn’t get more perfect. Michael and Kim only live a mile apart off of the Plaza, they love talking evening walks together to Loose park, Visitation Catholic Church and Prime Sushi….all destinations leading up to the proposal. The last destination was Loose Park …
Kim arrived at the rose garden and slowly made her way to her highschool sweetheart. Watching him anticipate her arrival was so moving….I loved watching him wait for her.
How could she say no, after a story like that. They were meant to be with each other. As soon as she said yes he whisked her off to the other side of the park, where he had yet another suprise for her. Her mom, who lives in Omaha, was there to share in the celebration!
The night only got better with one final suprise, a suprise engagement party thrown by Michaels sister and brother-in-law.
Congrats again you two!! Thank you for letting me witness not only the love you have for each other, but the love your entire family has for you two!
